14 Inch Floor Tom Tuning
Taking a 16 inch floor tom and tuning it up high will get the same issues as a 13 inch tom.
14 inch floor tom tuning. It was somewhat wimpy for a floor tom but i lived with it for several years. Some kits have more and others have less any number of tom toms in any size can be added to any any kit it s just a matter of the player deciding what they need. Most importantly though if you tune it up high it still has a great full sound. Amazing tuning and sound. I ve always had trouble tuning them too especially when i had a 14. What i am talking about here is what are the noticeable differences in sound characteristics between a 16 x 14 floor tom and a 16 x 16 floor tom that are the same brand and type of wood just with a the two inch depth difference.

14 s are the perfect versatile drum for a jazz setup. As stated tom toms are the support drums you add to your kit. A standard five piece drum set for example features one floor tom next to the snare and two rack toms above it. It just sounded like it couldn t decide whether or not it wanted to be a tom or floor tom.
16 s sound great but only when tuned lower.
